Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly advancing and has significant potential to benefit society. However, its unchecked development and deployment may also pose risks to individuals and society at large. The goal of this research project is to develop ethical guidelines for the design, development, and deployment of AI systems.
The project will involve a comprehensive review of current literature on AI ethics, including the study of ethical frameworks, values, and principles that can guide AI development. The project will also include the analysis of case studies on ethical AI, as well as the study of social and cultural factors that may affect the adoption of AI ethics guidelines.
Milestones for this project include the development of comprehensive AI ethics guidelines that reflect diverse stakeholder perspectives, ethical principles, and social and cultural contexts. Other milestones include the demonstration of the feasibility and impact of these guidelines through case studies and stakeholder engagement, and the promotion of their adoption and implementation through policy and education initiatives.
The potential applications of this research are significant and include the promotion of responsible AI development and deployment, the prevention of AI-related harms, and the enhancement of AI benefits to society. Furthermore, the development of AI ethics guidelines can promote public trust in AI systems, foster social inclusion and equity, and contribute to the development of a human-centered approach to AI.
